ABOUT US

 

 

Welcome to R & J Chinchilla Rescue and Re-homing Centre.  Please excuse any errors or mistakes on our website as its all home-made—all donations are directed at the rescues and their everyday running expenses.

 

Our involvement with chinchillas over the years have led us to operate one of the foremost Chinchilla Rescue and Re-homing Centres in the UK

 

Our main objective is to provide a dedicated service for any chinchilla in the UK requiring rescue, rehabilitation, re-homing, and/or on-going permanent care where necessary and appropriate. 

 

We never put a healthy chinchilla down, we prefer to go the extra mile and endeavour to get the chinchillas back to full or optimum health.  A chin is only put to sleep when all reasonable treatment options have been exhausted and no other clinical outcome is possible or where the animal is considered to be suffering

 

Once the chinchillas are in good health and condition we arrange to re-home them.  Sadly though, this is not always possible as some of our rescued chinchillas are unable to go on to new forever homes—this is mainly due to ill health. These stay with us and we try to make them as comfortable as possible for as long as we can.

The chinchillas are re-homed with the condition that they are NOT used for breeding.

 

Over the years we have accumulated a vast knowledge of chinchilla health and welfare and we continue to learn every day.   We also have an extremely knowledgeable and helpful vet on hand whenever we need them.

 

For further information on giving one of our rescued chinchillas a lovely new home and for help and assistance, please contact us either by phone or email us.

 

We do not  receive any funding for the rescues, we rely entirely on donations  to pay for running costs and vets fees

 

To help raise much needed funds we have now opened a shop where you can purchase our range of herbs and mixes along with other fundraising items.  New products will be added in due course, including an exclusive range of Hammocky Hammocks.

 

ALL PROFITS FROM OUR SHOP WILL GO DIRECTLY TO THE RESCUE

NEW ZEALAND

CHINCHILLA RESCUE

 

We are closely associated with Sarah Hamilton who runs a chinchilla rescue in New Zealand.

 

Sarah has taken in and re-homed nearly 400 chinchillas since opening her rescue.

 

She works tirelessly with her rescues, sometimes 24 hours a day, as sadly, some of them arrive in very bad condition and need her constant care and attention.

 

We support each other as much as possible, as well as learning from each others experiences.

 

Sarah is in the process of organising fund raising items to help support her rescue.
